2011 Porsche Cayman

2011 Porsche Cayman

The 2011 Porsche Cayman is not a difficult question to Porsche. He has no style or straight-line performance of the 911 or any of its approximately 20 variants. He did not like the Boxster convertible top for both those seeking sun and fun. Nor is the Cayenne or Panamera - cars that, while fun, are not exactly what one might call classic Porsche.

All of these other models for sale to an increasing extent, but ironically it is the Cayman, which produces the purest driving experience. Cayman midengine beautifully balanced chassis, telepathic control, and not only reward a skilled driver, but also to maintain the Cayman lenient less experienced. Of course, impressive acceleration numbers 911 Turbo impress your friends more than the Cayman S with 5.0 seconds to sprint 00-60 mph. But the flat-6 is still exciting, and if you go around the corner really becomes the blood pumping, then the Cayman has few equals.

Porsche Cayman manage even cranked up a notch with the new R. 2011 Cayman Mainly fixed roof version of the Boxster Spyder, the new Cayman model R-bands of obesity in an attempt to support the handling and acceleration. Small things like cloth strap is news to major components such as air conditioning (you can always add that she and her 26 extra pounds if you wish), this lighter, meaner Cayman truly one with the addition of subtraction.

Remember, buying a car of such a dedicated driver has its drawbacks. Since it is essentially a Boxster with fixed roof, the cabin is on the narrow side, with legs and limited emissions limit. It is also quite expensive, because this lack of functionality and the fact that its convertible sibling is actually cheaper. This becomes even more expensive when you start sampling the endless list of features that make an impression of the U.S. Tax Code look like a pamphlet of Delaware tourism.

In fact, the 2011 Porsche Cayman concentrated too weird (and of questionable value) for many motorists. If so, then the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe, Chevrolet Corvette and BMW M3 and the new M-1 series is probably your best bet. In the same price class, with a sweet edge, but the Audi S5. And if you want a car that is very focused even more outside the norm, then there's the Lotus Exige. All are great cars. But if you want to have the purest vision of a Porsche sports car, there is no substitute for the Cayman 2011.

Body styles, trim levels and options

The 2011 Porsche Cayman is a two-seater coupe available in the database, S, R and S Black Edition trim levels. The Cayman R is a lightweight version of standard equipment includes Cayman S. more power, 19-inch wheels, limited slip rear differential, sport suspension, fall, sports seats, sports steering wheel light (with or without KDP) and the exterior trim paint to match. That along the ditches on the air with a few pieces of finish, while the four-speaker is a free choice. Most of the regular options are available in the Cayman R (including climate control), but some luxury items such as ventilated seats and Bose stereo is not available. If these seats with mild cases can not be adjusted to your liking, regular sports seats are available in the Cayman Islands.

Engines and performance

2011 Porsche Cayman is powered by a 2.9 liters boxer six-cylinder (flat 6), which produces 265 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Like every Cayman, rear-wheel drive and the standard six-speed manual gearbox. The optional seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission known as KDP. According to Porsche, the Cayman should go from zero to 60 mph about 5.5 seconds. EPA estimated fuel economy is 19 mpg city/27 mpg highway and 22 mpg combined by hand, while the PDK impressive returns 20/29/24.

Porsche Cayman S receives a direct injection 3.4-liter flat-six good for 320 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Porsche estimates that it will go from zero to 60 km / h in 4.9 seconds. Surprisingly, fuel economy is the same as the normal Cayman with PDK, and only 1 mpg less on the highway with the manual. Cayman S gets an S version of the engine is mounted to 330 hp. They have to hit 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and the return of fuel economy as well as the standard S. Cayman

Security

Cayman comes standard with antilock brakes, traction and stability control, side airbags and side curtain airbags.

Interior Design and Special Features

The interior of 2011 Porsche Cayman Islands with quality materials and good car sports seats. The size of the center-mounted tachometer goes from high-throughput DNA Cayman, although the number of analog speedometer and the small range that is more decorative than functional - the trip computer, digital speedometer reading is more useful. Some controls are a bit fussy, but the control center of the current battery is much easier than ever - especially touch-screen navigation system.

Sharing much of its Boxster roadster cottage, the Cayman is by no means spacious. Foot space is narrower than the other two seater and 2 +2 coupe, while a small greenhouse can feel a little 'go. Positive, the standard seats are very comfortable and supported - the sport seats is not really necessary. The luggage compartment is 9 cubic feet available in the rear door (behind the engine and passenger compartment), and the front of the frame will expand the total storage capacity of 14.5 cubic meters. Despite this staggering total, although both departments are awkwardly shaped.

Driving Impressions

Thanks to its size, weight and design of small midengine modest, the 2011 Porsche Cayman extraordinary handling, getting to feel glued to the road and light on his feet at the same time. The roll is virtually nonexistent, and the variable proportion of direction is one of the best systems on the market. The new Cayman R, due to its lowered ride height and revised suspension is even better. However, R does not flow quite steep, and Porsche does not offer the optional adaptive suspension for it.

If you do not know the 320-hp Cayman S there is a likely basis for the 2.9-liter engine of the Cayman would never cast a negative word. Both are able and impressive - just depends on how you're wondering how a driver and as you are willing to throw down the $ 10,000 extra 0.6 seconds, acceleration 0-60. PDK transmission is a revelation, offering flawless performance of the automated manual shifting for those who prefer to row their own gears. We are not fans of the series of wheel buttons, but rather an optional paddle gearbox design. Worth the extra money.
